The construction of the autobahn "Karaganda – Balkhash" was resumed in the Karaganda region

Andrii Guzavaty from Almaty has been transporting goods on heavy loads for more than 20 years. He travels from Almaty to Astana once a month. He says that the road that was before the repair and the current one are strikingly different. And most importantly, travel time is saved.

– A few hours, one might say. They make a road, it will be completely different, that is, it suits. It is much easier to get from Almaty to Astana.

Last year, the first layer of asphalt was laid on four lanes of the autobahn. However, there was no separation barrier, so only 2 directions were opened for traffic.

Maryna Zolotaryova, correspondent:

– Now highwaymen are installing a barrier fence on the dividing line, they have to equip 363 kilometers. The metal beams and racks used here are made in local factories.

The installation of road clothing will be completed this year. The quality of the canvas is under special control. Before laying the last layer of asphalt, road engineers checked the route after operation.

Aibek Amantaev, deputy director of the Karaganda regional branch of NC "KazAvtoZhol":

– We, the technical supervision service and the contracting organization, discovered defects such as ruts, cracks, subsidence. They mostly appear due to the fact that there is traffic, defects are revealed during operation. According to the main contract, these defects will be eliminated by subcontractors.

Construction of the Karaganda-Balkhash highway began in 2019. Then it was valued at almost 250 billion tenge. In 5 years, the general contractor changed and the price of the project increased to 317 billion tenge. Now the long-term construction is planned to be completely completed by the end of this year and provide traffic on all 4 lanes of the autobahn.
